Meet Umut Utku Tanis, a craftsman of code who joined the Code Nomads tribe from Turkiye. Umut sees software engineering as a form of modern carpentry—a way to build something meaningful and robust, whether it’s with elegant code or wood. As a Senior Software Engineer, he specializes in implementing complex backend systems.

With his deep expertise in Java, Kotlin, and event-driven microservices. He ensures the systems he builds are not just functional, but beautifully structured and maintainable for the long run.

When he steps away from the keyboard, he enjoys life with his wife, Deniz. Their home is lovingly ruled by two furry companions, Cheddar and Merkur, who ensure he never codes for too long without a break for head scratches.

Fun fact: If he wasn’t a Software engineer, Umut says he would be in a workshop covered in sawdust, pursuing his other passion as a carpenter.
